With only days left before the Republican primary election, the Boxborough Republican Town Committee has endorsed Jon Golnik in his campaign to challenge incumbent Niki Tsongas in the 3rd U.S. Congressional District.
The Committee adds its endorsement for the Republican nomination to those of Senator Scott Brown, former Governor Paul Cellucci, the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, and fellow Republican Town Committees in Acton, Concord, Carlisle, Groton, and Littleton.
“The committee believes that, in these difficult economic times, it is imperative that we elect a representative that offers real solutions to the problems our Commonwealth and our Country face,” said Christine Doucette, Chair of the Boxborough RTC. “We believe [Golnik's] private sector experience, his firm grasp of the issues, and his proven willingness to work tirelessly on our behalf makes him the right person for the job.”
“I’m honored to receive the Boxborough RTC's endorsement,” said Golnik, “and I'm thankful for the support so many others have shown me during this primary. I see how frustrated people are about the economy. Business is still slow, and jobs are still hard to find. We need leaders who will focus on getting us back to work, and I look forward to working with the Boxborough RTC and all the others who are helping me bring my message to voters.”
Massachusetts Republicans have performed strongly in Boxborough lately. In 2010 Scott Brown won 48% of the town's vote, and Golnik hopes to build on that progress by running a positive campaign centered on his ideas to help businesses and create jobs.
Republicans and Independents will be able to vote in the primary election on Thursday, September 6th.
